We woke up to 8 MPH wind, a light
overcast. I had "415" ready to go as Des and Alice pushed out the
"Deuce".
Don and Steve were in the club house having coffee. Larry had his plane
out. Ken Perron flew by low, to check out the activity or planes that
would be flying over. Dave and Carla pulled in to get their plane out.
At 7 am, wheels up, and we were off! Steve and Don decided to stay
behind and hold down the fort. The winds were picking up. Going over
Mike and I in my plane had a ground speed of 32. Larry was with us.
Dave and Carla along with Des and Alice were in the second flight.
Landing at Clinton we were greeted by Jeanine, Ken, Dan and Ed. The
coffee was on and the fresh baked goods were still steaming as we walked
in the door. All planes had landed the wind was now at 15, but it was a
tail wind so we stayed and had more warm coffee and hot rolls. About
then a Quicksilver landed and 2 more pilots joined in the feast! Damn
the
wind and pass the Coffee cake!
Take off went smoothly. I had to hand prop 2 Challengers and put air in
my tire. We departed on runway 32, and did a turn to the left, by now
we had a 25+ tailwind. This would be a short ride home.
As you can see from the pictures everybody had a great time. And I
didn't have to worry about the clubhouse cause Don and Steve stayed
behind to watch over the place. Dawn Patrol, over and Out!
Thanks to Jeannine Eden for providing a great start to our day.
