DP1&2 1st Dawn Patrol

To Kevin Lee's airstrip in LeClaire, Iowa

Larry Espe doing morning preflight.

Ready to go to Kevin Lee's airstrip LeClaire, Iowa.

I love sunrises from the air.

We are a pretty close group but no formation flying.

Princeton, Iowa on the Mississippi.

Aerial view of L&L airfield.

Jeannie Eden arrived before we did.

Ed Vens arrives minutes later.

Inside the hanger breakfast is served.

We should come back here again. Bacon, eggs, donuts, fresh fruit.

Group shot.

Dan Dawson goes up to qualify for DP and take a picture.

Dan took this picture of the planes around hanger.

After eating we checked out the new hanger and enjoyed the pleasent weather.

Jim Robinson heading home.

Jim's strut wires broke on landing so a ratchet cable works to get home.

A barge heading up the river.

Back at Erie turning to downwind.

Mike Housenga landing.

Ken Perron doing some dual with Jim so next DP he will be ready.

2nd Dawn Patrol

To Clinton Airport Clinton, Iowa

Thus the name "Dawn Patrol" Jim Robinson pushes his plane out of the hanger.

At end of runway ready to launch.

The windows were all dew till we were airborne.

There the sun comes up.

Not much traffic on I-88 this early.

Albany, IL as we fly over the Mississippi to Iowa.

I aimed the camera over my shoulder and with a little luck...JR

All new taxiways going in at Clinton Airport.

We land and get pictures of those behind us.

We had to double back on the runway to get to the taxiway.

Ed Vens arrived early and directs traffic.

Kevin and Christine Lee join us from his airstrip in LeClaire.

Wow Jeannie Eden had fresh made rolls , muffins, fresh fruit, lots of fruit juice and fruit and coffee.

Here Jeannie is in the kitchen of the clubhouse.

Nice room to eat and hang in when the weather is bad.

We had 11 planes at this DP.

Minus myself this was the group.

Dan Dawson came in last and got lost in the maze & had to go x-country.

At the active end of the runway heading home.

Flew over Camanche Iowa going back.

Islands on the Illinois side.

Landing back at Erie Air Park.

John Kloos was just opening his hanger. JR told him it was Dawn not Noon Patrol.

Jim Davis showed up to visit.

Everyone parked their planes and went to the clubhouse for coffee.

Then Jim's 8:00 flight lesson showed up. Great morning!!!

Dan Dawson took this picture of Jim Leaving Clinton Airport
